About Next Gen Market Research (NGMR) Group
A bunch of malcontents, disruptors, and dreamers getting smarter together…
Next Gen Market Research (NGMR) is a professional networking group for market research practitioners dedicated to exploring and pursuing innovative market research techniques and technologies.
Founded by Tom H. C. Anderson on LinkedIn in 2007, NGMR was among the marketing research industry’s very first online professional networking communities and quickly became home to market researchers who were, frankly, uninspired by the status quo in consumer insights. Anderson at the time explained, “The market has changed, customers have changed, but market research has changed little since the mid-90s and still offers only ‘1.0 insights.’ We need to get smarter or get left behind.”
NGMR today is the most active community in the industry. The group’s membership exceeds 25,000 market researchers worldwide—clients and suppliers—committed to pushing the envelope, blazing new trails, and continuously transforming the field of insights.
NGMR’s mission remains to enable market research professionals to stay ahead of the disruptive change that has become the hallmark of the Internet era, and to facilitate the advancement of marketing research capabilities.
About the NGMR Innovation Awards
NGMR has for nearly 10 years presented the annual NGMR Innovation Awards recognizing research professionals and companies that have demonstrated outstanding leadership as change agents and/or made significant contributions—technological, methodological or otherwise—toward pushing the field of research in promising new directions.
About the NGMR Blog
Before it was a LinkedIn group and professional networking community, “Next Gen Market Research” was actually the masthead of founder Tom H. C. Anderson’s personal blog. The blog was a perennial Top 10 favorite among researchers, named the Best Blog in Market Research for three consecutive years by New Market Research’s Sean Copeland, and also ranked as the #1 research blog on Guy Kawasaki’s Alltop Research. The blog became an important part of the NGMR community. In 2017, Anderson decided to turn the blog over entirely to the NGMR community. Today, the NGMR blog is the group’s official resource for expansive thinking and stimulating dialogue.
